“Do things for people not because of who they are or what they do in return, but because of who you are.”
— Harold S. Kushner

Today’s Excerpt:

Who is one kind person you know? What do they do that’s kind?

Read the following story for an example of showing kindness toward a friend.

A Modern Story of Kindness and Friendship
A first grader named Zac started to feel tired all the time and didn’t have much energy. His parents took him to the doctor and he was diagnosed with leukemia — a type of cancer. Even when he was getting treated for leukemia, Zac wanted to go to school everyday so he could play with his friend, Vincent. When Vincent learned that Zac had cancer he wanted to help, so he learned how to knit and made over 20 scarves to sell to help pay for Zac’s expensive cancer treatments. When Zac started losing his hair because of the leukemia treatment, Vincent had an idea to show kindness and love. Vincent shaved his head so Zac wasn’t the only one at school without hair.
