“Journaling is like whispering to one’s self and listening at the same time.”
— Bram Stoker, author

THIS WEEK’S LESSON

Journaling

Today’s Excerpt:

Watch “How the Five-Minute Journal Works” (1-min video) to see one available method for journaling.

Discuss:

  • When the video says journaling is like “a toothbrush for the mind”, what do you think that means?

The Five-Minute Journal uses the same format every day, posing three prompts for the morning and two for the night.

Morning

  1. What are you grateful for? (three things)
  2. What would make today great? (three things)
  3. Daily affirmation (“I am [something kind].”)

Night

  1. Three amazing things that happened today:
  2. How could you have made today even better?

For each day’s devotional this week, consider following the format of the Five-Minute Journal, or follow one of our journal prompts for the day.
