“Walking with a friend in the dark is better than walking alone in the light.”
— Helen Keller

Today’s Excerpt:

Who needs a friend?

Read through these situations and and decide how you could be a friend— to yourself or to others:

  1. There is a group of four kids at school who are pretty popular, and they always look like they are having a lot of fun at recess. Most kids are afraid of them because they are always putting down others and don’t allow anyone to sit in their area at lunch. One day they invite you to sit with them at lunch and play with them at recess.
  2. You get a new haircut and the next day at school one of your classmates says you look like an alpaca. You laugh it off at first, but the joke sticks and now someone in your class calls you alpaca almost everyday. It’s starting to upset you but you don’t want to make it a big deal.
